Tuition Assistance

STO Grants (K–6)

STO stands for “School Tuition Organization.” The STO serving the Archdiocese of Dubuque is “Our Faith, Our Children, Our Future” School Tuition Organization. The tuition assistance grants from this program are funded through an Iowa tax credit program. We strongly encourage interested parents to complete an application. The Our Faith, Our Children, Our Future STO, coupled with our local tuition assistance program, makes Christian education affordable for all.

STO grants are available for K-6 students who reside in Iowa and whose household’s taxable income is at or below 300 percent (300%) of the federal poverty rate. STO grants are not available for preschool students. In the past, qualifying families have received between $300 to 90 percent (90%) of their tuition depending upon verified need. Awards vary from year-to-year depending upon the overall verified need of the applicant pool.

More information is available to parents on the Our Faith, Our Children, Our Future website.

How to apply:

Only one application needs to be completed per household.

  • Parents can start an application utilizing the name/zip code of one school.

  • Additional children and the names of their schools can be added to that single application.

  • Create an account and apply online

Education Savings Account (K–6)

For the 2024-2025 school year any student who was approved for an ESA this school year and remains an Iowa resident is automatically eligible for ESA funding in 2024-2025. There is an ANNUAL application process, so parents will need to reapply each year. For the 2024-2025 school year all incoming kindergarten students will be eligible, all first graders who had received ESA in 2023-2024, families with a household income at or below 400% of the 2024 Federal Poverty Guidelines, and all new incoming students coming from a public school will be eligible to apply. In the 2025-2026 school year all students attending an Iowa accredited nonpublic school will be eligible for ESA funding which currently covers all tuition and fees at St. Paul’s. (Application for 2024-25 isn't available yet.) For more information, visit Iowa's Education Choice site.

Iowa SWVPP (Preschool)

Iowa's Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program (SWVPP) for Four-Year-Old Children provides an opportunity for all young children in the State of Iowa to enter school ready to learn by expanding voluntary access to quality preschool curricula for all four-year-old children. The funding amount awarded to St. Paul’s is dependent upon the state.
