Farewell for the Summer!

This is a historic time at St. Paul’s as we celebrate 150 years of ministry in Waverly and the graduation of the 6th grade class of 2022. It is a privilege and honor to have served as principal at St. Paul’s and witness the accomplishments of all of our young Christians. Thank you to all of our parents for the faith and trust you have in our school. Our students are who they are today because of your effort, commitment, guidance and support.  Please accept our heartfelt thanks for the best gift you could ever have given your child, and that’s a St. Paul’s Christian education.

Our students become the leaders they are today through the lessons they have learned, which helped them build a strong foundation in leadership through positive decision making and through standing on the promises of God. God bless you all for choosing St. Paul’s as your school of choice for the 2021-22 school year.

We send you best wishes for a blessed, amazing and safe summer and we look forward to seeing some of you back in the fall. May the Lord bless all of you as we end the year in celebration of what God has done in our lives. Enjoy the summer and remind your children what is truly important-family, friends, your health, your school, church and your community, and to always live by the words of the Fruit of the Spirit, “Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.”

Whether your child is returning or not in the fall, please know that you will forever be in our hearts as members of our St. Paul’s school family.

Summer Express Books

In lieu of keeping track of summer reading minutes, we are sending home the Summer Express Workbooks. We encourage you to work with your child to complete the activities and return the book in the fall for a special recognition of completion.

150th Celebration continues

Summer 2022 Bible Reading Challenge

We are encouraging every member of St. Paul’s (youth through adult) to read through the book of Luke together this summer. On Sunday, May 29, there will be a reading plan available for all ages. Kids and youth will have their own books to follow along and they will be available from Ms. Bachman all summer long! At the end of the summer (August 21), kids and youth will be asked to bring their completed books to our Back to School Bash. Everyone who shows their completed book will receive a prize and an entry to win larger prizes. There are 2 prizes for each of the following age groups: Preschool—1st grade/ 2nd—6th grade/ 7th—12th grade. Those prizes will be drawn at the Back to School Bash (must be present to win!)There will be a video each week on our YouTube channel if you prefer to listen to the readings. For the younger kids who use the Story Bible, Deb will post a video each day to Facebook reading the stories together if you would like to use that. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Deb at Follow the St. Paul’s Faith Formation page for more information:

The ISASP is intended to provide information to schools and families on how students are performing on the Iowa Core Academic Standards. This test is administered to 3-6th grade students in reading, mathematics and language arts.  In Grades 5, 8 and 11 the students also take the science assessment.  We are so proud to announce that 90% of our 3-6th grade students were in the proficient or advanced category in the English Language Arts portion and 95% in the Math portion of the ISASP (Iowa Student Assessment for Student Progress) tests. 100% of our 5th graders were proficient in Science.Hats off to our students for working hard to advance their skills and trying hard on the test.  Hats off to the teachers, associates, and parents for their hard work in ensuring that our students had mastered the skills for success. St. Paul’s has a lot to brag about, every school across the state would love to have our data and student performance! Once the state closes the window and reports are available, we will send you a link to access the results.
