Administrative Assistant to Director of Faith Formation

Date: November 2018 Supervisor: Director of Faith Formation Time Status: Part-time (12 hours per week)

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church & School in Waverly, IA has an opening for an Administrative Assistant to Director of Faith Formation. Under the direction of the Director of Faith Formation, this position provides assistance for the implementation of programming for children, youth and family ministry. This includes, but is not limited to, Wednesday after school program, Confirmation, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Milestones Ministry, and youth groups.

Principle Activities:

  • Assist with administrative tasks for the implementation of programming with direction from the Director of Faith Formation

  • Be present on Wednesday afternoons for after school programming

  • Assisting in maintaining necessary records for all age levels

  • Assist with directing and supervising of volunteers

  • Perform other duties, consistent with the nature and scope of the position, as assigned by the Director of Faith Formation

Qualifications:

  • Current active membership and participation in a Christian congregation

  • Over the age of 18 with a high school diploma

  • Interpersonal relationship skills necessary to work effectively with the Director of Faith Formation, other staff members, the congregation, and volunteers

  • Basic knowledge of organization, communication, and presentation skills

  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and social media (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.)

Experience and skills:

  • Prioritizing and completing multiple tasks to meet required deadlines

  • Communicate effectively (oral and written) with a wide variety of audiences

  • Ability to take direction and maintain confidentiality

Working Conditions:

Traditional office setting with occasional necessity to lift items not to exceed twenty-five (25) pounds.
