What does it mean to truly belong? In our lead up to Lent, we’ll explore this question as a worshiping community and wonder together about how we can reflect God’s radical inclusion as a hospitable body of Christ. From sermons to adult ed — and introducing an exciting new Cohorts ministry, as well — we’ll stretch and grow our hospitality muscles. The series will culminate on Feb. 15 with a litany of promise, a congregational recommitment to living fully into the radical welcome of Jesus. Check out the details below for more information.

Cohorts

Have you ever wanted to be a part of a group with people who share an interest or life-experience? Maybe you’re a young parent looking for young parent friends, or you really enjoy a particular hobby and wonder who else shares your passion. St. Paul’s Church wants to help you explore these connections by shaping a Cohort Ministry, where we can convene small groups based on your preferences. To help us set up something meaningful and effective, please give us an honest summation of your thoughts through this survey.

Greeters

Back in August, the Hospitality Committee re-introduced Greeters to the regular lineup of volunteer opportunities here at St. Paul, and we are so grateful to those who have stepped up to welcome people in an official capacity on Sunday mornings! However, we need lots more volunteers to really make the most of this resurrected ministry. Please consider volunteering as a greeter. And then, join us on Feb. 8 or 15 for training between services.

Children’s Sermons

Think about “belonging” as a casserole — there are some key ingredients that every hot dish must have to be delicious, just like there are some things that everyone needs to feel like they belong. Each week, we’ll examine a different ingredient as we build the most delicious and effective Belonging Casserole you’ve ever imagined!

Training

Each Sunday, during the fellowship hour between worship services, Pr. Nikoli will be leading a training to help us think curiously and widely about “welcome” and “hospitality.” You have multiple opportunities to attend, so please check out this schedule:

  • Hospitality Training Part I: Jan. 11 & 18

  • Hospitality Training Part II: Jan. 25 & Feb. 1

  • Greeter Training: Feb. 8 & 15

Adult Ed

Pr Susan Friedrich will lead a bible study on Wednesday nights, relating to the previous Sunday’s worship text. Each of these texts will help us think more deeply about belonging and welcome. Not only is Pr. Susan a thoughtful and gifted teacher, but she also brings a fresh perspective as a newcomer to St. Paul’s. Please join her on Wednesdays at 6pm in classroom 121N to explore scripture and reflect on how it fits in with our personal and congregational lives.
